How to Remove Unwanted Software from Windows

Step 1. Manually Remove Unwanted Software using Control Panel

  2. Click “Uninstall a Program” to open the list of installed programs.
  3. Right-click any malicious or suspicious program in the list and select “Uninstall/Change

  2. Click “Uninstall a Program” to open the list of installed programs.
  3. Select the malicious programs and click the “Uninstall” button.

  1. Open the Windows start menu (Windows key) and go to Control Panel
  2. Navigate to Uninstall a Program
  3. Double click any malicious looking programs to begin uninstall

Uninstall Applications in Windows XP

  1. Press the Windows key and X at the same time and go to the Control Panel
  2. Click “Uninstall a Program” to open the list of installed programs.
  3. Select the malicious programs and click the “Uninstall” button.

Step 2. Remove Unknown Extensions from Your Browsers

Reset Google Chrome

  1. Start Google Chrome
  2. Open the “Menu” (top right corner)
  3. Select “Settings
  4. Find “Show advanced settings” and click on the link
  5. Scroll down to “Reset browser settings” and click
  6. Click on “Reset” to confirm

Reset Internet Explorer

  1. Start Internet Explorer
  2. Click on “Settings” (wrench icon) located on the top right corner
  3. Click on “Internet Options
  4. Click on tab “Advanced
  5. Find “Reset” button and click it
  6. Enable the option “Delete personal Settings
  7. Click on “Reset” button
  8. Restart your browser

Reset Mozilla Firefox

  1. Start Mozilla Firefox
  2. Click on “Menu” button on the top right corner
  3. Select “Help” (question mark button) and then “Troubleshooting information
  4. Click on “Reset Firefox” and Confirm
  5. Click on “Finish” to restart Firefox

Reset Microsoft Edge

  1. Select More (…) on the top right of the browser, and click Settings
  2. Under Open with, select A specific page or pages.
  3. Type in the URL that you want to set your homepage to, or select one of the defaults. Click the + button to save. You may add additional URLs if you want more than one website to open when you launch Microsoft Edge.
